Fairy tales, people, mentalities – stories for a Lusatia of tomorrow

A storytelling workshop as part of „My Thing is HOW I Catch It 2026“

Do you fancy telling a story? The Lausitz used to be full of them. People told each other about water sprites, the Lutki, the midday spirits, and some even had a lucky dragon in their attic. Then the world changed. Open-cast mines ate their way through villages, some stories fell silent and new ones were added. But who tells them today?

That's exactly what we want to find out! Over three weekends, we will dive into the art of free oral storytelling, merging the fairy tales, myths, and legends of Lower Lusatia with biographical experiences, anecdotes, and perspectives for the future.

We are telling German, Sorbian/Wendish, English with gestures, or in completely different languages. The Niederlausitz sounds diverse and that's exactly what we want to make audible.

In July, our stories will be part of the programme of „My thing is HOW I catch it 2026“ – on stage or also at our jobs fair.

And the best part? No prior knowledge is required to participate. All that's needed is a desire for good stories and curiosity about what's to come.
